Lameness is any change in the posture of an animal or in the way that they walk or run. It can be due to skeletal, muscular or nervous system causes.
The vet will first do a clinical examination to ascertain if your animal is healthy. Next a detailed physical and neurological examination will be performed to find the problem. The vet will grade the lameness from 0-5. Sometimes radiographs or ultrasonography is necessary if the lameness is not obvious. These conditions are usually quite painful and needs intervention from the vet.
